Founded by George McKay in 1973, first named Pioneer Cleaning. Pioneer Cleaning was the leading arm for Sears Certified Carpet & Upholstery Care in Central Des Moines for decades. Soon enough Pioneer cleaning came to be known as Reliable Maintenance Company.
 
The second generation of Reliable Maintenance expanded it even further in the 90's to the mid 2000's led by his son, Keith McKay. Reliable Maintenance is proud to be one of the oldest and still standing African American businesses in Des Moines.
